I heard this song again the other day (the video is below if you’d like to hear it.) and it really kicked me in the gut and ultimately changed my views on a VERY controversial issue :

Mary got pregnant from a kid named Tom who said he was in love
He said don’t worry about a thing baby doll I’m the man you’ve been dreamin’ of
But three months later he said he won’t date her or return her call
And she sweared god damn if I find that man I’m cuttin’ off his balls
And then she heads for the clinic and she gets some static walkin’ through the doors
They call her a killer, and they call her a sinner, and they call her a whore

In our society girls are taught to look for this ideal man, the Knight-In-Shining-Armor, super romantic love and boys are taught toΒ want to get in girls’ pants. Girls are set up to be hamstrung by the slipperiest guy with the best line.Β  So Mary falls for Tom’s line, he gets what he wants and then bolts for the door. Mary believed that he was really who he said he was, saw a life and a future for them and now it is all gone. She doesn’t know what to do so she does the only thing that seems to be a viable option. Enter Christians, smug and Holier-Than-Thou as we usually are. Even if we don’t call her a Killer, sinner & whore, we think it. We’ll just look down our noses and pray silently for the slut.

Please don’t think that I am PRO-Abortion. I am just PRO-People. This fictional Mary and here real counterparts need us much more that the unborn baby(s). I used to get caught up in the statistics on abortion. Over a million dead. I believe those babies go immediately to heaven and are with Jesus (a place I would like to be.) The mothers are driven away from the church and God because we judge instead of pressing close to them when they need Him the most.

I’d Love to hear your comments even if you disagree. πŸ™‚

“What It’s Like”

We’ve all seen the man at the liquor store beggin’ for your change
The hair on his face is dirty, dreadlocked and full of mange
He ask the man for what he could spare with shame in his eyes
Get a job you fuckin’ slob’s all he replied

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to walk a mile in his shoes
‘Cause then you really might know what it’s like to sing the blues
Then you really might know what it’s like [x4]

I’ve seen a rich man beg
I’ve seen a good man sin
I’ve seen a tough man cry
I’ve seen a loser win
And a sad man grin
I heard an honest man lie
I’ve seen the good side of bad
And the down side of up
And everything between
I licked the silver spoon
Drank from the golden cup
Smoked the finest green
I stroked the fattest dimes at least a couple of times
Before I broke their heart
You know where it ends
Yo, it usually depends on where you start

I knew this kid named Max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late at night
Liked to get shit faced
And keep pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight
Max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45
Talked some shit
And wound up dead
Now his wife and his kids are caught in the midst of all of his pain
You know it crumbles that way
At least that’s what they say when you play the game

[CHORUS]
God forbid you ever had to wake up to hear the news
‘Cause then you really might know what it’s like to have to lose
Then you really might know what it’s like [x3]

To have to lose…

and just for fun Everlast is the singer from House of Pain. πŸ™‚ Just older and fatter. Happens to all of us.

EXPELLEDBefore we start know that I don’t want to fight. I am just going to the place that I believe God wants me to go. It’s ok if it isn’t the path for you. πŸ™‚ You have your path.Β  I just ask that you have an open mind.

Alright. I posted this on my Facebook profile and have taken a bit of heat for it. “We believe that we can overrule Jesus’ central teaching of LOVE if something we view as SIN is involved” I got the idea from a book I am reading called “Jesus, The Bible and Homosexuality” by Dr. Jack Rogers. He talks about it wasn’t very long ago that the Church believed that slavery was not only acceptable but was God’s will. They even were able to provide scripture to back it up. It wasn’t very long ago that African Americans and women did not have the same rights as white men. We are talking about the 60’s and 70’s not the distant past. The point is that the church thought it was right, biblical and in God’s will, but it wasn’t.Β  I think we need to be very careful how we behave toward the outside world. We have caused a lot of damage. It seems we ought to known as a people of love and grace but we aren’t. We are seen as judgmental and unloving. Our priority should be Loving GOD and Loving People. It’s really what Jesus said was the most important. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31 niv We really like to classify sin. Even if you are a Christian you still sin. We all sin. (If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8 niv) We just think some sins are worse than others. Sexual sin is the biggest. So you aren’t attracted to members of the same sex, does that make you better because you aren’t tempted? What are you tempted to? How do you do with that? “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Matthew 7:1-3 niv. Sin doesn’t send someone to Hell, it’s your relationship or lack that picks your final destination. Jesus said LOVE. Please lets LOVE. If I’m not a Christian and society says its ok to sleep together before marriage (and it does) what can I possible say that will make someone think sex before marriage is wrong? How about if a person is Gay. Society says its ok. What could I possibly say that would make them not Gay? Nothing. I could say a lot that might make that person think I’m a jerk and even worse than that that God is a jerk. The whole conversation would shut down. I want to introduce them to the God that loves them and died for them even while they (and we) were sinners. He is able to fix whatever he wants. He’s changing me.

Here is a more in depth article if you want to go deeper.

I really do know all of the arguments that you are going to use to dissuade me from believing / acting as I do. I don’t want to argue with you about it. If you are offended and don’t want to read anymore please don’t. I LOVE ya! m

Make sure you read the comments on this blog, we go a lot further with this topic. (the link for the comments is at the top). Also please take the time to do our poll below. It tracks answers not who said what. πŸ™‚
